Apple Watch Cannot Receive Sedentary Reminders

Having trouble receiving Relaxo notifications on your Apple Watch? Don’t worry—this is usually caused by a few common settings. Follow the steps below to check them one by one and get your notifications working again.

First, Make Sure Your Apple Watch Is Unlocked

Please ensure your Apple Watch stays unlocked. When the Apple Watch is locked, Relaxo cannot access any information, which prevents it from sending sedentary reminders.

Check if Your Device Is in Low Power Mode, Focus Mode, or Theater Mode

Some device modes can limit notifications to save battery or avoid disturbances. Please check your device status:

  1. Is Low Power Mode Enabled?

When Apple Watch is in Low Power Mode, the system may disable or limit certain functions to extend battery life, which can include notifications and background app refresh.

    How to check:

    • Apple Watch: Open Control Center and check the battery icon. If Low Power Mode is on, charge your watch.

      1. watchOS 9 and earlier: Swipe up from the bottom of the watch face.
      2. watchOS 10 and later: Press the side button (power button) once.
  2. Is Focus Mode Enabled on iPhone?

iPhone Focus Modes (Sleep, Do Not Disturb, Work, etc.) can filter or silence notifications based on your settings.

    How to check:

    1. Open Settings → Focus.
    2. Check if any Focus Mode is active. If so, ensure that Relaxo is allowed to send notifications in that mode, or temporarily disable the Focus Mode to test.
  3. Is Theater Mode Enabled on Apple Watch?

Theater Mode keeps your Apple Watch silent and prevents the screen from lighting when you raise your wrist, which also blocks notifications.

    How to check:

    • Open Control Center on your Apple Watch and see if the two-mask icon (Theater Mode) is lit. If it is, tap to turn it off.

    Instructions by watchOS version:

    1. watchOS 9 and earlier: Swipe up from the bottom of the watch face.
    2. watchOS 10 and later: Press the side button (power button) once.

Confirm Health Permissions

Before you troubleshoot notifications, make sure Relaxo is running properly on your iPhone and Apple Watch and that your health data is showing correctly.

If Relaxo asks for access to Health app data, make sure you grant permission first before checking any other settings.

How to check:

  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Sharing at the bottom, scroll down, and select Apps.
  3. Find Relaxo and make sure all permissions are turned on.

After confirming that Relaxo can display your data and Health permissions are granted, check if notifications are back. If everything is already authorized but notifications still aren’t coming through, continue checking other settings.

Notifications & Background App Refresh

Next, let’s make sure two key settings are properly set up so you can get Relaxo notifications on time:

  1. Check notifications on your iPhone and Apple Watch

    • iPhone:
      1. Open Settings > Notifications > scroll and tap Relaxo.
      2. Make sure Allow Notifications is on (green).
      3. Check that Alert Styles (Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners) are selected, and Sounds and Badges are turned on too.
    • Apple Watch:
      1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone > My Watch tab > Notifications.
      2. Scroll down and tap Relaxo.
      3. Make sure the toggle is on (green).
  2. Check Background App Refresh on your Apple Watch

Background App Refresh keeps your sedentary data updated, which is essential for timely notifications.

    • Apple Watch:
      1. Press the Digital Crown to open the app list > tap Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
      2. Make sure the top switch for Background App Refresh is on, and scroll down to find Relaxo. Make sure its toggle is on too (green).

Still Not Getting Your Sedentary Reminders? Try Restarting or Reinstalling

If you’ve double-checked all the settings above and Relaxo notifications still aren’t coming through, try these steps:

  1. Restart your devices

    • Apple Watch: Press and hold the side button until the power-off slider appears. Slide to turn it off, wait a few seconds, then press and hold the side button again to turn it back on.
  2. Reinstall the Relaxo app

Sometimes the app may glitch. Try uninstalling and reinstalling it:

    • On iPhone: Press and hold the Relaxo app icon on your home screen, tap Remove App, then Delete App. After that, go to the App Store, search for Relaxo, and reinstall it.
    • On Apple Watch: If Relaxo is installed on your watch, it usually reinstalls automatically after you reinstall it on your iPhone (if your sync settings allow). You can also search for Relaxo in the watch’s App Store and install it directly.

After restarting or reinstalling, check if your notifications come back.
